Psalm 18: My Righteousness,

God delights in me,
And towards me He will lean,
He loves me, though I’m soaked in sin.
Forgiving sin He sees.

For I am in the right,
Jehovah is my Light,
This purity He gave to me,
Is ever my delight.

You smelted out my dross,
My dirty hand’s You washed,
I call it then my righteousness,
Accepted by Your cross.

I kept your laws and ways,
Ignoring not a day,
The rules that You set our for me
That in Your courts I stay.

And when I sin, repent,
For towards your laws I’m bent,
Your sanctity transforming me,
O’er You I’ll cast my tent.

I did not cause His grace,
Nor make Him love my face,
My goodness emanates from God,
I vibrate at His rate.

For He delights in this:
That I would do His wish,
So when he hums His righteousness,
I will repeat the pitch.

To kind ones You is kind,
To blameless as Your mind,
Be sure to pure You’re also pure,
But froward you will bind.

You save the humble men,
Who turn away from sin,
Swift to deliver when we call,
But haughty eyes condemn.

Psalm 18: Deliverer

Hark, hear, and listen, and attend,
I tell you of my Lord –
My Lord, my Love, Deliverer,
My rock, my saving horn.

He is my shield, he covers me,
My fort and palisade,
Yea, when I call – Oh! praise His name!
He swiftly comes to aid.

The cords of death entangled me,
The waves of pain wax high,
The grave’s cold noose comes round my neck,
And snares assault my eyes.

In panic I cried to the Lord,
I – drowning in this sea,
I called for help – to heaven prayed,
Yes, evil, wicked me.

In heaven in the temple sat,
The God of near and far,
And to His temple came my cry,
His holy ear did hear.

And so He roused Him at my cry,
In anger came he forth,
The earth did tremble, mountains quaked,
Before Him storm-clouds birth.

The brightness of His presence cloaked,
In clouds and stones of hail,
And lightning flashed in sheers of flame,
Before Him all did quail.

Jehovah spoke from heaven then,
Resounding coast to coast.
His arrows scattered all my foes,
His bolts did rout their host.

The dreadful waves he hurled back,
The earth beneath laid bare.
Before his neezings all retreats,
This power – for my care.

With great compassion God knelt down,
He pulled me from the sea,
He saved me – ugly, rebel’s spawn!
From foes too strong for me.

Sobriety: I Peter 1:13

Through the haze of centuries past,
The myriads of angels peered,
And for salvation prophets grasped,
But now Ineffable is here.
So therefore hope! And gird your loins,
And with sobriety of mind,
Harness creative, central points,
Streamline your thoughts to grace and kind.

Let nothing burden now your stand,
So cast away the cumbered weight.
Best meet the Lord with but one hand,
Then never enter Heaven’s gate.
Equip yourself for battle then,
The Sword of God do practice well,
Crowd out rebellion born in men,
With love for God your heart will swell.

Control your mind and sober be,
Look not to trans or wine of fear.
Ruled not by reason, ruled by Me,
And I will guide your reason here.
Surrender then to perfect Hope,
Hope in the Lord – not in your life,
Not in your country, church, or home,
But firmly in God’s grace through Christ.
