I Peter 5:14: Lovely Talk

An eggshell in a hurricane,
A chick within a forest fire,
A cohort in a hostile land,
A skiff without a friendly pier.

The church can not afford to spurn,
Ignoring those within its fold,
And default to the worldly talk,
Like diamonds left in ice and cold.

Yet we must dwell with unity,
And love, accepting painful bliss.
How do you talk to brothers then,
To unify and show them this?

Let your Salvation be your theme,
Authority as God has called,
Of glory found in suffering,
Affirming holy, righteous all.

Great brethren with a kiss of love,
In holiness and unity,
Remember God embraced us all,
We all will share eternity.

And bless each other, too, with peace,
For others pray and intercede,
And spur each other on towards Christ,
The Church, through God and love succeeds.

I Peter 5:12-13:True Grace

Now all this said and read,
The Gospel that I have declared,
Is the true grace in place,
In mercy we are standing there.
If standing in His grace,
How is that illustrated?
Here are three men of faith,
Who preached grace incarnated.

Silas followed Paul,
Who preached in Asia and in Greece.
In jails by grace assailed,
Through demonized, and mobs, and beasts.
And taking Peter’s letter,
While Paul was chained in Rome,
Despising death and fetter,
To preach, he left his home.

And she in Babylon,
Has also seen this grace described.
To Persia I have gone,
Confirming all those in Christ’s Bride.
For I would tend the seeds,
That other men have sown.
Feeding all the sheep,
Together grace has grown.

My son Mark too, greets you,
Who prayed for me when I was chained,
A writer, fighter, friend,
His school in Egypt now maintains.
So will you heed the call?
Like others holding no reserve.
Giving Christ your all,
In thanks, for grace is undeserved.

Eternal Perspective

The King of earth will soon return,
And call each of His warriors home.
And each of them a crown will earn,
When Jesus Christ ascends His throne.

If you would be among this band,
Then be a warrior now and pray,
That you may in your armor stand,
And finish well on judgment day.

And also give what God gave you,
In giving will God’s joy abound,
For every warrior needs his food,
The givers God will give a crown.

But also go and preach the news,
And boldly do what God has shone,
Rejecting flesh, God’s will now choose,
That God will say to you, “well done.”

Have this eternal goal in mind:
The greatest call, to praise the Lord,
And those who He will faithful find,
Receive His thanks and His reward.

But when God give us His reward,
We’ll toss our trophies at His feet,
And then we’ll bow before the Lord,
And great thanksgiving there repeat.

So by this grace be overwhelmed,
And in that passion be renewed.
We sinners in salvation helmed,
We helpless with God’s might infused.
