There is no temple anymore,
There is no altar sacrifice,
The priests unneeded, unrestored,
For this was all fulfilled in Christ.
Yet there is relevance to us,
Our body, temple of our God,
Ourselves the priesthood of Jesus,
And He the altar of His blood.
Then we the altar-tenders keep,
In holiness the Name of Peace.
Our robes through Christ of sins are bleached,
To do our duties as His priests.
The fire – symbol of the Lord –
As faithful virgins must keep lit.
So stay alert and preach His word,
The Spirit’s fire do not quench.
For God makes holy with His touch,
And at His presence filth has fled.
So we, made holy priests, as such,
Through all the world His light must spread.
Rejecting sin is not enough,
To sanction our salvation.
Do not ignore the damage done,
Pursue then restoration.
And ignorance is no excuse,
For God will hold you guilty.
To rend relationship with Him,
And fracture righteous fealty.
To sin is hurtful unto men,
And Him who made creation.
Make good to man, to God repent,
For stolen bread’s a bitter bite,
To it a fifth is added.
The minimum that man must give,
That injury demanded.
Restore, not penalizing theft,
Not death or amputation.
The penalty, but One can pay,
Through Christ our restoration.
Let justice fall! We’re guilty all,
We do not what we ought,
Reputing what God taught,
Transgressors found and caught.
For it is sin, this omission,
The guilt of falling short,
Refusing to report,
Like partial truth in court,
Do you not see? You are unclean,
Your body wreaking vile,
Your works like stinking bile,
In death fully defiled.
You’ll be repaid, for what you say,
Your carelessness of speech,
Your blasphemies repeat,
Your lips in lies are steeped.
Be rich or poor, come to your Lord!
Accepting Christ as head,
Who cleansed you guilt and dread,
Condemning death instead.
What will atone? Not beast or bone,
The sacrifice God gave,
Salvation by His grace,
Our offering our faith.
So justice stays! My sin is paid!
O guilty man – repent!
Let justice be content,
For this, Christ’s blood was spent
