In the Here and Now (Psalm 37:7-15)

In the here and now,
While wicked men yet cheat and bribe,
While government officials lie,
While widows yet for justice cry,
Still labor for the Lord.

In the here and now,
Your wrath and fury needs forsake,
Let God be God and on Him wait,
All evil He will decimate,
Put hope then in the Lord.

In the here and now,
The wicked may be at their ease,
But very soon their joy will cease,
The meek will all their riches seize,
This given by the Lord.

In the here and now,
While wicked men still gnash their teeth,
The Master yet will laugh, who sees,
That every man will bend his knees,
Before the awesome Lord.

In the here and now,
The wicked draw their swords and darts,
Yet they will enter their own hearts,
The godly Christ makes as the stars,
Perfected by the Lord,
In the here and now.

Fret Not (Psalm 37:1-6)

Let not your eyes arise in angst against,
The wicked man, nor envy his deceit,
Because that man will burn in discontent,
Consumed and scorched like withered stalks of wheat.
Believe the Lord and do what’s best and right,
Befriend the faithful and possess the land.
Through covenant with God, in Him delight,
And He will calm your heart, fed by His hand.
Commit yourself unto the cause of Christ,
Let Him control, completely operate,
That He deliver you into the right,
So you may shine in light that He creates.
Thus all your frets and worry throw aside,
And trust in God and place Him as your guide.

Pleasure (Psalm 36:8-12)

You richly fill my wounded, aching soul,
I’m satisfied in all Your pleasures.
You, and only You, can make me full,
To satiate my heart forever.
You know me, as in Eden – stripped away,
The foul and brooding, primal curses,
World’s sensual surfeit scatters, as they day,
Of Your face every sin disperses.
Your purity as a crystal fountain flows,
The genesis of life and cleansing,
The light by which we see comes from Your throne,
Without You, there’s no sense or sensing.

Extend Your loving-kindness to the just,
To those who by Your blood are righteous,
Oh! burst the flood-gates of Your love on us,
And to Your Lordship ever tie us!
God, guard my heart from haughtiness and pride,
Nor let the wicked make me waver,
But let me ever in Your grace abide,
And all Your providences savor.
For pride has caused so many men to fall,
They clinch their fists and then are shattered.
Such reefs the flesh into our life installs,
And all their progeny is scattered.
You bring me safely through these awful snares,
And You have silenced death’s loud clamor,
I try to praise Your grace – so rich, so fair –
But all my skill is but a stammer.
