Luke 20:45-21:4

Honor those who rule,
Pray for their salvation.
Though it be a fool,
Governing your nation.
Leaders who do right,
Deserve our double honor,
Those who rule in spite,
Double condemnation.

Hypocrites who lead,
Lead through loving honor,
Their love for praise and greed,
Results in hurting others,
Distancing from God,
Pursuing men’s approval,
Until His wrathful rod,
Destroys that prideful sinner.

You are just as they,
An addict of approval,
So prone to fall away,
In recognition revel.
But seek the praise of Christ,
And seek His recognition,
Be giving all your life,
For Christ makes pride’s removal.

Though men will all abuse,
The giving I just mentioned,
Yet do not yet confuse,
Your duty with their treason.
For you are called to give,
No matter who will take them,
Make this the way you live,
To seek God’s recognition.

Leviticus 19:32-37: Christian Courtesy

Exalt the hoary hair,
And rise to give them chair,
Respecting frail and elderly.
And listen when they speak,
Not grudging to repeat,
In honor, Christian courtesy.

Consider foreign men,
Not cheating him in sin,
Give gladly hospitality,
Your niceness not enough,
But show them Jesus’ love,
Give help in Christian courtesy.

Make measurements compare,
And weights be right and fair,
Devalue not your currency.
Be scrupulous and true,
Make not your morals lose,
In honest Christian courtesy.

Not simply to be nice,
Not to protect from suit,
Because God gave you life,
And saved and hallowed you.

Leviticus 19:1-8: Holiness

Holiness linked to divine,
The essence of the sacred Lord.
Relational it is defined,
As righteousness, but He restores.
Consecrated but through God,
And never by our worthless deeds.
We counterfeit in cursed fraud,
The grace of God our only need.

Then worship God, and Him alone,
As Lord, His law will lead your life.
By this His holiness is known,
The line of Law cuts as a knife.
Your earthly father honor, too,
For holiness at home begins.
Your father God has given you,
Reflecting God’s own holiness.

And keep the Sabbath rest He gave,
The rest that He did consecrate.
And not forever sweat and a slave,
The sign of sanctity He makes.
And make no gods to worship them,
To sell yourselves as demon’s whores.
Idolatry, the sickest sin,
Is prostitution from the Lord.

And do not eat the tainted meat,
When you assemble near my throne.
To keep the honor of my feast,
In holy joy to God alone.
Then do not worship work or food,
Or friends or kin, or fleshly art,
But God makes holy and makes good,
His blood has sanctified my heart!
