Needy (Psalm 41:1-3)

I serve a God who clothes each little flower,
I serve a God who knows each sparrow’s need,
I serve a God who planned out every hour,
Who fashioned life, from man, to beast, to seed.
And so he looks on earth in His compassion,
And not a spot escapes His loving eye,
So blessed is he who acts in Godly fashion,
And answers wisely when the needy cry.

How can we show our love for God the Father,
Unless we first can love the least of these?
And love demands we love him as a brother,
To help him with the things he truly needs.
Should we not help each thing we see as needy,
To serve as stewards o’er all the Lord has made?
Though you can not enrich the world completely,
You must be faithful and you must obey.

For God will bless that man who helps the beggar,
And He will guard him in the evil day,
And God will give him life to live forever,
And bless the land on which he tends and stays.
And God protects him from all those who hate him,
And will sustain him, giving him his health.
For God adores that man who will embrace Him,
And shares to poor men from his little wealth.

In the Here and Now (Psalm 37:7-15)

In the here and now,
While wicked men yet cheat and bribe,
While government officials lie,
While widows yet for justice cry,
Still labor for the Lord.

In the here and now,
Your wrath and fury needs forsake,
Let God be God and on Him wait,
All evil He will decimate,
Put hope then in the Lord.

In the here and now,
The wicked may be at their ease,
But very soon their joy will cease,
The meek will all their riches seize,
This given by the Lord.

In the here and now,
While wicked men still gnash their teeth,
The Master yet will laugh, who sees,
That every man will bend his knees,
Before the awesome Lord.

In the here and now,
The wicked draw their swords and darts,
Yet they will enter their own hearts,
The godly Christ makes as the stars,
Perfected by the Lord,
In the here and now.

Arise, O Lord (Psalm 35:1-10)

Arise, O Lord, and hear my plight,
And for my vindication fight!
I will not for myself contend,
But trust that You will now defend.

Arise, O Lord, with buckler born,
And bring my shield: the faith I’ve sworn,
Unsheathe the spear snatched from my foe,
The strength of Your salvation shown.

Arise, O Lord, and bring dismay,
On those who seek my life for prey,
Turn back their course, confuse their plots,
Bring them to shame, their plans to naught.

Arise, O Lord, Your angel send,
To chase the wicked to their end,
Their way be perilous and dark,
And dread of God consume their heart.

Arise, O Lord, their pit is laid,
Their net disguised for feet that strayed,
Destroy the foe’s insidious plots,
Let him within his net be caught.

Arise, O Lord, and hear my praise,
A song of Your salvation raised,
Let all my bones exalt Your deeds,
Who helps the one who was in need.
