Meditation on John 3:16

The Lord, the great, the God Almighty,
In whom existence finds its being.
Who's all sufficient in entirety,
And holy far beyond our seeing.

Our very worship is insulting,
Like rowdy, tone-deaf children screaming.
Our greatest efforts are revolting,
And certainly not worth redeeming.

So why was Christ the one who's broken?
For Adam's race -- all worse than worthless.
God's name, ineffable when spoken,
He gave to us to show our purpose.
