My Judge, My Light, My Song (Psalm 43)

Lord, the Judge of my salvation,
Judge the godless men’s deceit,
Show Your might as my defender,
Prosecute their perfidy.
Why have You made me an outcast?
Why must I mourn in this plight?
Lord, I know that You are sovereign,
I will trust Your love and might.

Lord send out Your light upon us,
Guide us to Your holiness.
Come, dispel each lie and shadow,
With Your perfect presence bless,
I have come unto Your mountain,
What have I to sacrifice?
To endure Your holy altar,
Let Your blood for me suffice.

I will sing to You thanksgiving,
In a dance Your worship raise,
Glad with all Your church to glory,
Harness ever art for praise!
What excuse have I for moaning?
I have hope since God is true.
God is God, and my God sovereign,
I will magnify anew!

Unswerving in The Light (Hebrews 13:7-9)

“Remember” is the prophet’s cry,
Remember those who taught you Christ,
The fathers of the days gone by,
Who honored God throughout their lives.

So analyze the lives of saints,
Their failures, weakness, strength, and gains,
That you may learn to imitate,
Inspired by their Godly faith.

The God they served is still the same,
And Jesus Christ has never changed,
And as they spread Jehovah’s fame,
So we may honor Jesus’ name.

Avoid all doctrine strange to Christ,
Emotions, actions, life, and mind,
Can guide us to the left or right;
But walk unswerving in the light.

Corporate Holiness

That spark of light, or fitful flash of flame,
When it ignites, a room of dark is tamed.
And Christian faith – illumined by God’s word,
Has power to stay God’s wrath when it is stirred.
For even Lot – called holy by the Lord,
In Sodom brought delay of judgment’s sword.
For by that man who looks to God in faith,
Jehovah’s hand of wrath is held in place.
The children of that man are holy then,
To God above, and are brought close to Him.
As holy, then, salvation not declared,
But close to Him and of His people there.
This is the place where sinful man comes clean:
Jehovah’s grace which flows from you and me.
Do not take lightly what’s been given you,
This holy light which in your life shines through.
It pushes back the darkness of our sin.
Do not be lax but take advantage then,
Of this great might – God’s holiness endued,
Ignite that light in those most close to you.
