I Cling to Christ (I Samuel 31)

I cling to Christ, my fast redoubt,
Though I'm besieged on every side,
When devils tempt my heart to doubt,
I'll hold on to my Jesus' side.

I cling to Christ, my solid rock,
Though foemen hunt me down to kill,
When all my dearest friends are lost,
I cling unto my Savior still.

I cling to Christ, my sure defense,
By captivating every thought.
I mourn the loss of fallen friends,
Who for our Holy Father fought.

I cling to Christ, my only life,
Affirming every word He said.
So boldly I will sacrifice,
Because my Christ can raise the dead.

Godly Community (I Samuel 30:20-31)

God has united us in Him,
O let us join in unity.
And let us love the brethren,
However weak or strong they be.
But let us give to all his due,
And more, as God gives graciously,
And not belittle what they do,
but build Godly community.

The Lord protects His followers,
His heart is for the weak and lost;
So let us too, or else we err,
For that is how we found the cross.
And we are members under Christ,
Within the church, His body formed.
Let us in love and grace unite,
With everyone in Christ reborn.

Response to Grief

Lord, fill my heart with Your immortal strength,
When I’m completely overwhelmed with grief.
Purge anger and denials I believe.
And comfort me when I’m too weak to weep.

Lord, fill my mind with Your immortal strength.
When others threaten me for my mistakes.
Lord, fill my lisping tongue with words of grace,
And guide me in the actions I should take.

Lord, fill my arm with Your immortal strength.
That I may execute the work You made for me.
To persevere, exhausted though I be,
Your justice purging our iniquity.
