When Christ is Your Identity (I Samuel 18:17-30)

You are bought for Christ's betrothal,
An inheritor of God,
Put your life at His disposal,
He will guide you from above.
Would you settle for another?
Nothing greater do I see,
We are called as Jesus' brothers,
Make Christ your identity.

There's no earthly love or romance,
No attachment to great kin,
No appointments or enthronements,
Which can rival that in Him.
Though you gain the greatest fortune,
Though your profits know no end,
Next to Jesus' sweet communion,
They pale in comparison.

Let no fleshly joy or pleasure,
Be the end for which you strive.
Christ and Christ alone we treasure,
He's the reason we're alive.
Earthly pleasures hide deception,
After joy they are a sword.
Christ renews our dead perception:
Live with pleasures from the Lord.
