I Peter 5:5-7: Humility

Gird yourselves as slaves,
Bravely take the plunge,
Humility of mind,
To each and everyone.
For God His host arraying,
Is ever pride dismaying.

Surrender to His grace,
Placing Him as first,
Humble to His hand,
Obedience converse.
That soon the Lord’s Anointed,
Exalts you when appointed.

In every thing give thanks,
Banking on this word:
This is the will of God,
His mighty hand concurred.
His hand is always guiding,
All those in Him abiding.

If you would mighty be,
Fleeing first you fall,
Till nothing you achieve,
Before He gives you all.
Like David, Job, and Jesus,
Humility must seize us.

Cast on Him your cares:
Tares will be removed,
Anxiety be damned!
Sin, criminally proved.
You’re less concerned and worse than,
Your God cares for your person.

God knows all your hairs,
Caring for your tears,
Measured all your tossing,
Written clean and clear.
Will you be humble wholly,
Since God cares for you fully?
