Metaphor (Jude 12-13)

The church of Christ was made to be distinct,
So guard this holiness among the saints;
Not formed by man or legalist instinct,
But by the grace of Christ communion makes.

Ungodly men are like a hidden reef,
Or spots and putrid swells of leprosy,
These men are fearless only in their feasts,
You, be a harbor, safe in sanctity.

For they are clouds which never bring the rain,
Not having living water in their souls,
Or as a tree which brings no autumn gain,
In Christ your fruit and water harvest full.

They’re as the swells upon a restless sea,
Who slosh their shame as foam against the shore,
As wayward stars that wander wildly,
Yet you are bound in orbit of our Lord.

They worship lusts to which they are inclined,
And claim that light is in their hearts instilled.
The gravity of God must guard your mind,
And guide our tide to heave within His will.

Their light will perish in eternal gloom,
And burn in fire where no light can cheer.
Yet you, in Christ, shine brighter than the moon,
Let Christ then be the point to which you steer.
