Rebellion and Sacrifice (I Samuel 15:1-23)

Lord, You demand rebellion be destroyed,
No mercy shall be shown to what You hate.
You gave us victory that we employ,
A ruthless purging as Your gospel states.
But we have harbored special, secret sins,
And nurtured it in greatest arrogance,
The filth we worship, we will yet defend,
And then ignore the dictates of our Prince.
Rebellion is like hellish sorcery,
And stubbornness is like idolatry.
No sacrifice can make the Father pleased,
Obedience is what He wants from me.
I sacrifice my will to Jesus Christ,
I claim His blood to be my sacrifice.
